Portrait Propagande Poster

Image
I chose for my self portrait to choose a picture where I was happy, as well as one that would be simple to create. I chose a selfie of me when I was at the Jonas Brothers concert a couple weeks ago at the Florida State Fairgrounds. To make my body, shirt, hair and eyebrows I used the gradient to add depth and highlight the lighter parts and darker parts of my face. For the glasses I used the shape builder tool to create the outline of the glasses as one shape and the inner circles as another shape as I used the pen tool to create the outline and the inner circles. I chose to go with sunglasses as I was having trouble with the eyes but it also goes more with the idea of the propaganda poster. I chose to make my propaganda poster about the me too movement as I have been a victim of rape myself. I am very passionate about the movement and it has been some of the stories other people have been able to and brave enough to share that have gotten me through my experiences and made me want to ...

Logos

Image
This design is my personal logo. It represents how I went from living in the mountains to moving to Florida and the beaches. I think this logo represents me in that I have embarked on a new adventure and I am all about traveling to different places, trying new things and experiencing all I can. The road going from the mountains to the waves represent the journey that I took and how there were some twists and turns in my life in getting to where I am now. The color choices are about the mountains and the waves. The green represents the mountains, the blue represents the waves and there was also a third option where the middle road was a tan color that represents a dirt road / sand. My inspiration for this design came from my knowledge of the mountains that I grew up near and the waves are the same way the waves were drawn on the tattoo that I have. I hope that people are able to see from this image that it represents me and the journey that I have made in life so far.

Caligram

Image
I chose a star as the right shape to use for my calligram to represent my letter to my future self because I grew up in a really small town and there were a lot of times in my life where I went outside and looked at the stars since I was always interesting in astrology as well as it was something that kept me calm. There were times in my life where if I just needed to relax I would look at the stars and the mountains. Now that I don't live near the mountains I feel closer to home when I am able to look up at the stars and know that they're the same thing that I was seeing at home. I thought that it would help ground me in a way as well as knowing and hoping that my future is going to be as bright as the stars. Below I have attached the letter. Dear future self,  I hope that you were able to travel to all of the places you wanted to go and see all of the things you wanted to see. Hopefully you are happily married with a kid and a few dogs. Seems really scary to think now that in...

Illustrator Tools

Illustrator Tutorials - Pen Tool Beginner's Guide In this video I learned more on how to use the pen tool. I think using the pen tool will be easy as it can allow you to do a lot more things. It does take a lot longer to do things with just the pen tool but it is a good start to figure out what I need to do and a good way to start to play around with the different tools. One thing that I learned in the video is that it is the main way that images are created. I found it interesting that even more complicated designs can be created using the pen tool.  I think one challenging thing is going to be figuring out the different points for the curves and how to really get the shape that I want. I think I am going to use the pen tool as a good outline for the thing that I want to create. It is relatively easy to change things around and play with the different lines and everything so this will be one of the main things I use so it is good that I got a little more of an understanding...
